Barcelona is an old city that is known for its great architecture that is prominently seen in its churches. Aside from that, the city is kept alive by its open markets, music scenes, art galleries, and festivals. Take part of the fun by trying out the following attractions.
Places to See
La Sagrada Familia Church – The exterior portion of this church is still unfinished but even in its state, you can already see its great architecture with its 8 out of 18 spires towering high. Construction started in 1882 and estimated to be finished by 2026. It does not mean that you should wait for that, though. Its interior is ready for viewing and actually receives about 3 million visitors each year.
La Casa Vella – Those flamenco dancers do look great in their outfits that they are a sight to be envied. Here is a great news, you can look like them even for a few minutes and even have a photo of you taken. La Casa Vella will treat you some fine costumes and give you the best ensemble for that perfect photo.
Casa Batllo – Gaudi has several houses in Barcelona but if you do not have the luxury of time to visit them all then at least drop by this magnificent building. Its great architecture and intricate details will make every second and penny you spend there truly worth it.
Things to Do
Get Lost in the City – The best way to enjoy a foreign place is to mingle with the locals. So, learn some Spanish phrases and be ready to find your way around El Born and El Gotico, some of the oldest streets in Barcelona.
Work Up Some Tan – Barcelona has a popular beach spot too – the Barceloneta. Despite being overcrowded, especially in the weekends, you must not miss a day of fun here not just for swimming and sunbathing but to enjoy good music and great food as well.
Delight in Spanish Cuisine – You can try their Basque Tapas with a glass of wine or dig in on a plate full of sea foods. Spanish cuisine is lovable that you will not have a hard time acquiring your taste for it.
