Despite the many tragedies that Atlanta has experienced in the past, such as droughts, floods, and war, it has continued to show its resilience and is now one of the top-ranking cities in the world in terms of economy. In the midst of this bustling city are great attractions and sites that you would not want to miss.
Places to See
Fox Theater – This theater is considered the most popular destination in Atlanta. It is not your ordinary movie house, but rather a classic theater that will definitely bring you back in time because of its 1920s style, design, and furnishings. Aside from classic movies, it also features comedy shows and musicals.
Atlanta Botanical Garden – If you love plants, then you must certainly visit this place. You will find different varieties of plant collections, although their orchids are the most talked about. You will also love their well-kept topiaries and the many sculptures that you can find in the garden.
Georgia Aquarium – This is a great place to bring the kids. There are six galleries here with about 70 different marine animals exhibited. More than seeing these great creatures, a visit to this aquarium is a great way to teach conservation to kids and adults alike.
Things to Do
Watch a Play – Many plays that made it to Broadway were first glimpsed at the True Colors Theater and The Alliance Theater. So, when Atlanta, try to visit these theaters and maybe you can catch a play that will make it big later on and you can proudly say that you saw it first.
Learn to Grow a Bonsai Tree – This hobby requires some skill and a lot of patience, but once you see the creative and artistic result of your tender rearing of a little tree, you will be more than delighted. Learn how to start this hobby from the monks of the Monastery of the Holy Spirit and you can buy a few of their products to support them too.
Take Photos of Murals – Atlanta has a project called Living Walls, which is a series of murals done by international and local artists and can be found around the city. These vibrant paintings are best enjoyed if you go on a bike tour with your reliable and handy camera in tow.
